Scanning and Barcoding Traditionally, firms have sent their paper documents out to a litigation specialist service provider for scanning and/or coding and have treated the cost as a disbursement of the matter. Many firms now do this themselves, in-house, with their own scanners or their usual photocopiers (if these are the modern multifunctional variety which can also scan). A departmental multifunctional device offers a more efficient way of working, by keeping the scanning in the department, and in house.
