As well as selling and supporting our own Openlaw Litigation Software, we advise on all aspects of using technology to make the litigation process more efficient and cost-effective.

This may be for firms who have no experience in this and need to acquire it quickly, perhaps because a client has taken for granted that the expertise exists. It may equally be for a firm which has the technology but finds that the IT department's resources, priorities, reaction time or knowledge do not accommodate the time-critical aspects of litigation.  

A growing requirement is that we have a neutral role between two parties who are willing to exchange data (whether WP documents, spreadsheets, images or databases) but who need help from an independent source to achieve this. Two senior members of our staff are solicitors, well-used to the high standard of confidentiality which would be required in such circumstances.

We expect this area of our work to increase with the proposed new Practice Direction Guidelines for the Use of Technology in Litigation in any Civil Matter which is intended to impose the requirement that Disclosure of both document lists and document files be given electronically.

Although this work is often connected with our own litigation software, it is relevant to any use of IT as an aid to litigation, particularly where the software vendor lacks an understanding of the legal process or where a bridge is needed between parties and their suppliers.
